Neurodiverse & LGBTQIA+ community affirmative approach

A Mental Health Occupational Therapist supports people experiencing mental health problems or sensory differences to do the activities they need and want to do to live meaningful lives. I take into account the role that our environments play in helping or hindering our life experiences. Childhood trauma can play a role in keeping us stuck, and I help people to understand and solve their current problems, through understanding their past experiences.

I have worked in mental health practice exclusively since I qualified from University College Cork in 2017. I am a trained Redesigning Daily Occupations (ReDO)™¬†practitioner. I have recently worked in the speciality of child and adolescent mental health. Difficulty in regulating emotions can be a problem for some young people, and I use principles of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and sensory processing theory to support young people to manage difficult feelings. I take a neurodiversity-affirming approach, and I offer an affirming space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I offer a safe and trusting space for clients to explore problems and create solutions.
